2025 Special Olympics Oregon Polar Plunge

MEDFORD, Ore. – The beloved Polar Plunge took place Saturday at the Rogue Valley Country Club in support of the Special Olympics Oregon athletes.

In total, 25 teams took the gamble and jumped into the icy cold water.

Those who like a challenge took a victory lap while others decided to immediately get out and jump into some dry clothing.

Over $50k has been raised for the Special Olympics Oregon athletes.

Teams like Central Point School District have been participating in the polar plunge for 10 years, raising the most of any school team.

And the Eagle Point Police Department’s Plunging Eagles raised over $9k.

Athletes say the money is used in different ways allowing them to train and compete for free.

“The money goes to the athletes because it helps us help compete well, get medals, have fun, supports overnight trips and helps us go wrestle and power lift. All that crazy stuff. It’s a great place for people to come raise money, hang out with friends and jump in the crazy cold pool,” said Luis Sanchez.

The year-round program offers Olympic style sports from all three sporting seasons.

Because Special Olympics Oregon does not receive state or federal funding, it relies heavily on donations.
